At the school track, Tara, Emek, and Luna compared two training routines before the team's next competition. Five runners using Routine A recorded practice times of 62, 63, 64, 65, and 66 seconds. Five runners using Routine B recorded 58, 61, 64, 67, and 70 seconds. Both sets had a mean of 64 seconds and a median of 64 seconds. At first, the routines seemed equally effective. Then Luna noticed an important difference: Routine A's times were grouped closely around 64, while Routine B's times were much more spread out. Tara explained that the smaller variation meant Routine A was producing more consistent results. After checking the calculations together, they recommended Routine A. The team adopted the steadier training plan and headed into its next competition with confidence.
