During a canyon expedition, Emek and Tara needed to choose a supply drop location that two separated camps could reach efficiently. On their coordinate map, Camp A was at (2, 3) and Camp B was at (10, 9), with each coordinate unit representing 1 kilometer. Tara found the midpoint by averaging the coordinates, giving a proposed drop site at (6, 6). Emek then checked whether the location was truly balanced. From Camp A to the drop site, the horizontal change was 4 kilometers and the vertical change was 3 kilometers, so the distance was 5 kilometers. From the drop site to Camp B, the changes were again 4 kilometers horizontally and 3 kilometers vertically, giving the same 5-kilometer distance. A nearby clearing at (7, 6) looked convenient, but its distances from the two camps were not equal. Their calculations confirmed that (6, 6) was the balanced choice. The supply team marked the coordinates, and both camps reached the drop site by equally long routes.
